Escher Whippets

It's the weekend and we should be off having fun, right? No such thing. The Human did take us for our morning jog. I want her to take a picture, but she says that she can't jog and carry the camera. Silly woman. It was a little cold (27 degrees), but after being sidelined all week with rain and snow... that felt good.

The servant was mucking around this evening and came up with the following -- I thought it was kind of cool, especially since I am in the picture. She calls is "Escher Whippets." Do you see how crowded are couch is? One would think the servant would provide more sitting territory if she isn't going to take us out racing on the weekends

Weather

I want to lodge a complaint. The weather SUCKS. I have been talking to the servant about it, but she says that "it's beyond my control." She controls the flow of food to my bowl, the least she could to is control the weather.

Monday: It's rained here . What a downer.

Major storms. Flash flood warnings. Kind of the pits.

We love our servant. But....she's a little slow on the uptake. She insists that we go outside. Is she not aware that whippets can melt? Hmmmmm. So frustrating. Note the small lake forming in the backyard. We don't do our business in large bodies of water.

The humans have this mistaken assumption that we won't melt. However, the Great Ancient Whippet DID melt once. Humans think that this is not possible. It is. We know.
So, after this onslaught of preciptation is there relief? No. Throgh some cosmic disarray, this arrives: that's right SNOW. Five inches of the fluffy stuff came down. We live in the south -- it's not supposed to snow here. For some reason, the servant thought we might enjoy the white stuff. Why is beyond me. Snow is cold. Girl Goobers don't like cold. And what I don't like, the Wayward Whippets don't like.

Thankfully, the temperatures warmed to 50 the night after the snow, so all of the white stuff went away; however, that left us with a muddy, somewhat wet soup on which we were supposed to do "our business."
I don't understand WHY the servant insists that we do our stuff outside. She does her "business" in the luxury of a nice warm room. I don't quite understand the whole ceramic throne thing, but I think if modified, a whippet could use one. I got Mati to pose for this picture. That kid will do ANYTHING for a milk bone (kind of scary how eaasy it is to bribe her). She didn't like sitting on the throne .... she said it was a little too narrow and if the lid wasn't down the seat would be too slick, but I think there is potential. Anyone want to design a whippet appropriate toilet?

My Blog

It's me. Gabi, the Girl Goober. I got that name back when I was a little whipper snapper of a pup. Both my servant (I sometimes call her mom) and my brother's servant nick-named us Goobers, so it stuck.
I live with the servant and my brothers and sisters. Most of them aren't actually blood relations: we live together. Darby, my oldest brother, used to be the leader of the pack, but he got sick. I was the obvious (and may I say, ONLY) choice for a new leader, even though I was 8 months old when it happened. The servant thought that Darby was going to die. He didn't. Sometimes, I let him think he is still top dog, but lets face it -- It's all about me.
Here is a picture that our servant took of us at Christmas time this past year. For some reason, the servant thought that it would be cute to put us in the antlers....can you believe? From left to right: Reilly, Darby, Mati, Charlie, ME, and Hudi.

A brief run down on the cast of characters.
1. Reilly -- an odd nut. Mom calls him beanhead. He lives in his own world. Quite an odd duck, really.
2. Darby -- the oldest whippet (he's 8 right now). He used to be the leader of the pack, and is a nice enough kind of guy; however, he got sick and so spends most of his time sleeping. I let him be alpha....if I feel like it.
3. Charlie -- he's almost as old as Darby. He's kind of a nerd, but mom loves him because she is a nerd, too. He's also a klutz. Last week, he ran into my open mouth (honest, I wasn't biting him) and mom had to sew him up on the kitchen counter.
4. Mati -- She's the youngest. She sometimes thinks she should be Queen Bee, but I think she understands how things are these days. She's actually kind of a smart whippet...Her mother is my half sister Betty. Betty told Mati to suck up to Mom so that she could come live here. It worked. Mom is such a softy. The right look or whine and she does exactly what I want.
5. ME. No explanation required (more details later).
6. Hudi. She's my real life half sister (we have the same father). She's squirt but pulls her own weight. She's a party girl at heart (we call her Hooday Patootay), so is not all appropriate for any position that requires responsibility or follow through.

Those are the introductions.

More later.
