It has been a while....again

Gentle readers, I have been somewhat remiss in my posting, but these puppies are keeping me busy AND tired. I thought I got tired after a race meet, but this takes the cake!

The Human Servant finally allowed me to make another video.

The music is by Coldplay (Lovers in Japan).

I hope you all enjoy. Now, back to the puppies....errr, lumps with legs!

The puppies, live. Sometimes.

We'll see if this link works. For obvious reasons (or maybe not), the camera won't be on all the time.

Happy Turkey Day

Well, gentle readers, it is that infamous Turkey Day. I never have quite understood it, but it usually means some delectable bits for me, so I am OK with the tradition.

My little blind wigglers continue to grow. I find that I am having retrain that human servant of mine, though (does one EVER get them appropriately trained?). For some reason, that poor simple woman got the idea that I should stop running with them. Let me tell you, my figure has gotten better since the wigglers came, but a girl STILL needs her exercise. The Blind Wigglers will do well enough for a FEW minutes while we go run. I have had to put up quite the stink to hit the road again.

As the saying goes, the milk bar is still open. Here are my girls imbibing: Katie, Josey, Sweets and Layla. Goober Jr's body is hanging out, but you can't see his head.

Below, Sweet and Katie. They do make a neat set, don't they?

Josey, capturing some Z's, I think. Hard to tell since their eyes are closed all the time.
Layla. She's beginning to look like a bear with those nails. Once again, the human servant is lacking in the training department.
You guessed it. Goober Jr. For a boy, he's pretty cure even if he does have a big head.Gobble up them turkeys, all! I do hope the servant didn't forget THAT!

Busy times

Dear readers, I have been quite busy. Suddenly, all I want to do is take care of the puppies, although I must admit I felt the first desire to leave them yesterday when mom took the other wayward whippets up to the Whippet Ranch. I could smell it on them when they came back. I don't mind that they went to have fun. Obviously, the wigglers are too small (I mean, they could never wiggle across the grass. It's just been a long time. The cows have been on the dog side.

Here's some pictures from today. Not much change, but they are growing..
Mom put together a video for me.

I hope you all enjoy. The last video was from yesterday, the others were taken on Wednesday.

Well, color me purple

Gentle readers (you guys and gals are gentle, right?), it was NOT gas. Somehow, the human servant and I had a tremendous misunderstanding. I didn't have bloat from Peanuts, I had GABNUTS inside, and if the human servant would just speak canine, she meant PUPPIES inside. Hoowee!

Now, let me tell you (and the gentlest readers, just don't read the following paragraph, it's a little gory), getting those Gabnuts out was no easy process. I had all these twitching and twatching going on inside. The servant slept with me Monday night in that funny box (I told you she was losing her marbles, right?). Tuesday morning, she told me that the Gabnuts would be coming soon, but I just seemed to have to go out and poop a lot. Unfortunately, the servant had to go to her real job, so she left me with the nice girl. After another hour without a nut appearing (if they had sifted through my poop they might have....oh, never mind), the servant called the girl and told her to take me to Dr. Poke and Gas. My friends who have the dear Patience as their servant go to Dr. Poke n' Stick, but my guy gives me Gas every time it seems (when he doesn't Poke that is). Usually, I wake up drunk, but this time I woke up drunk with puppies!!! Go figure. And that bad bloat is gone.
I have a total of five. The servant said that she wants a girl, but you know humans! Even though I gave her 4 girls and a boy, she likes the boy, best so far. We call him Goober Jr cause he looks like me. All the Gabnuts have temporary names: Goober Jr, Layla, Sweets, Whitie and Josie (formerly blondie).

I don't know what ol' Poke and Gas put in the gas this time, but all of a sudden, I have this tremendous rage towards my house mates. The servant tells me that it is OK, I am just protecting the Gabnuts. Well, duh. They are all blind right now and really don't have their sea legs at all.

I hope you enjoy the video I threw together.

Gentle readers, keep coming back because I think there are going to be lots of pictures of these nuts!

BAD gas

Well, nothing has changed. This weekend, the servant was even odder than normal, was even more bizarre than normal, watching everything that I was doing. If she is so observant, why does she not observe, and then help me with this expanding girth problem, hmmmm?
Even odder, she hired another servant to sit with me today. How odd? She had to go to work -- something about making money to support the peanuts. Buhleeve you me, after what i have been going through, I won't be eating any more of those peanuts that put me in this spot. She could have stayed at home. I wish she had. I got really sad missing her. The other lady didn't know me. I also had some really BAD gas pain that made me cry. The servant says that is because the nuts are moving around....once again, I have totally sworn off nuts.
Have I mentioned recently that humans are just weird?
Do you guys think that Beano stuff might help?

OK, gentle readers (or, perhaps I need to be appealing to the not so gentle readers), this metabolic derangement continues, AND it is really beginning to bother me. Can you see???? Darby says he can't but he is just a stupid boy.

My belly is expanding. The really embarrassing thing...my belly is beginning to leak this white fluid. Now, that just can't be good.

I continue my yoga, but I fear it just is not doing the trick? Does the servant care? Nah. No. Nope. On top of that, the servant has been getting the wrong king of food recently. Worse gas EVER. You can even see my tummy rumble from outside!

Course, like I was writing earlier...she has gone off her bonkers AND her rockers. See the gate around the box? I know. Embarrassing on too many fronts to even count.

Gentle readers (and not so gentle readers), I am beginning to fear for my future. Send the troops....please.

Belated weeky update

Well, readers (I know there aren't actually readers, but I have been perusing the blog world and this seems to be how the posts go), I have been remiss in posting. My servant has been absolutely hogging the computer, planning the whippet clubhouse (that will be built on the whippet ranch land). Sounds good to me but it is cramping my style.

The expansion of my belly continues. I am beginning to get more than a little bit concerned about this apparent derangement of my metabolism. Everyone keeps telling me that my life is about to change.....yeah...if the belly get much larger, I won't be able to run! That will be a change. My servant seems to be relatively unconcerned about this condition of mine. Hello? Human? Think about taking me to the doc? Maybe even an endocrinologist? Nope. She just rubs my tummy. Humans are, lets face it, weird. For those of you not used to the whippet physic, above is a picture of me (right) next to Mati. Notice the difference. Sad, I know.

I am not one to let this problem go unaddressed. I continue to do my calisthenics. Here is a nice shot of me doing yoga. I am a progressive whippet. The servant is going a little daffy. We try to help her compensate, but it can be tough. She painted this box and brought it into the dining area. Charlie and Darby tried to make her feel good by lying inside it. To be honest, none of us understand this latest oddity in her behavior. I couldn't force myself to support this sort of insanity.....but I must admit I am impressed by Charlie and Darby. Of course, the boys have been with much longer.I hesitate to write this, but last night, the servant started erecting gates around the box. It was quite a lot of work for her.....I am really becoming worried about our future.

Well, that's it for now, readers.

Check back. I am worried about the servant's behavior....and if anyone can suggest a dietary supplement (natural of course) to help me with my UNDIAGNOSED metabolic problem, please, let me know.

Sincerely yours,
Gabi

Well, fall seems to have arrived here. The leaves are about as pretty as they get. The servant says that it will all be gone, soon, though.

I like running around in this weather. It feels good. Here is a picture of our backyard. It looks larger than it really is because the servant used her wide angle lens.

If you are looking close, you can see that my waistline is expanding. Everyone says that I am "glowing." People, that is just the afternoon sunlight in the fall.

Still, I am having fun. There are weird sensations inside my belly now. I don't like it. Especially at night. But the servant is good about waking up when I decide I want some extra petting. My original servant says that my life is going to change forever, soon. I wonder what she means by that?

Who let the dogs out? A foray into video experience.

The human servant (aka "mom") says that I am being aloof. Well, I'm not exactly into letting the world see my expanding waistline. I'm not vain or anything .... modest. The servant caught these pictures of me yesterday. I hate to say this, but everyday, I am a little bit bigger. Oh, well.

This has been a quite boring weekend. The cows are still out on the property, so we are stuck hanging out at home. The servant has been doing human errand stuff: cleaning the house, putting air in the tires, going to Home Depot, going to Home Depot again, going to PETCO!!!!! Hey, did I tell you? We now have a Petco in this town. Civilization has arrived. Of course, the servant said the same thing when Starbucks arrived, but they left about as fast as they came. I don't understand why coffee would equal civilization. Anyway, the servant thinks that she can single handedly keep Petco in business. OK by me if it means more toys to destuff (note the stuffing in the first picture....).

The servant has been working on her computer skills, so she put together the video shown below. I think the servant would put "Who Let the Dogs Out" as the sound track to any dog video. For those who are interested, the first 30 seconds or so are pictures of the land that mom has (more on that later). She isn't certain what she is going to do with the Looky-Loos when she starts having races (cows sure can be nosy). The rest of the video is taken in our backyard this weekend. Once again, the paparazzi seem to be fascinated with my ever-expanding waist line. Can someone puh-leeze get a real life? At the end, I told her to keep the part of Mati and Hudi running around....can you believe those silly girls bark with balls in their mouths?

Anyway, that's what I know today. Don't forget to set your clocks back!

Knocked up

It's been a LONG time since I have posted. I have decided to reactivate this blog....cause, well, I won't be runnin' round so much, soon. I got knocked up. Sigh. Lesson in not so safe sex learned.

The human servant tells me that it will be OK. She chose my partner. Talk about tempting a girl. His name is "Peanut", so, since I am Gabi, the Girl Goober, I guess I have a bunch of nuts rolling around in my belly right now.

I must admit that this Peanut guy was a looker. He was a little immature. He's Mati's littermate, although she wasn't claiming him when he came. He's a pretty fast guy, although he hasn't raced, he was whooping Mat's arse speed-wise in the backyard. Gosh that sounds kind of English, or something.

Because mom kind of tricked me (geez... bringing a dorky guy into the house when my hormones were a little jazzed?), I have been trying to keep it from mom. However, at the moment, every meal that I eat seems to go to my waist so mom is getting all excited that there are going to be Gabnuts coming, soon. She even got a camera so she can spy on me from work. Now, I think that may be violating my constitutional rights...not that I have any.

Escher Whippets

It's the weekend and we should be off having fun, right? No such thing. The Human did take us for our morning jog. I want her to take a picture, but she says that she can't jog and carry the camera. Silly woman. It was a little cold (27 degrees), but after being sidelined all week with rain and snow... that felt good.

The servant was mucking around this evening and came up with the following -- I thought it was kind of cool, especially since I am in the picture. She calls is "Escher Whippets." Do you see how crowded are couch is? One would think the servant would provide more sitting territory if she isn't going to take us out racing on the weekends

Weather

I want to lodge a complaint. The weather SUCKS. I have been talking to the servant about it, but she says that "it's beyond my control." She controls the flow of food to my bowl, the least she could to is control the weather.

Monday: It's rained here . What a downer.

Major storms. Flash flood warnings. Kind of the pits.

We love our servant. But....she's a little slow on the uptake. She insists that we go outside. Is she not aware that whippets can melt? Hmmmmm. So frustrating. Note the small lake forming in the backyard. We don't do our business in large bodies of water.

The humans have this mistaken assumption that we won't melt. However, the Great Ancient Whippet DID melt once. Humans think that this is not possible. It is. We know.
So, after this onslaught of preciptation is there relief? No. Throgh some cosmic disarray, this arrives: that's right SNOW. Five inches of the fluffy stuff came down. We live in the south -- it's not supposed to snow here. For some reason, the servant thought we might enjoy the white stuff. Why is beyond me. Snow is cold. Girl Goobers don't like cold. And what I don't like, the Wayward Whippets don't like.

Thankfully, the temperatures warmed to 50 the night after the snow, so all of the white stuff went away; however, that left us with a muddy, somewhat wet soup on which we were supposed to do "our business."
I don't understand WHY the servant insists that we do our stuff outside. She does her "business" in the luxury of a nice warm room. I don't quite understand the whole ceramic throne thing, but I think if modified, a whippet could use one. I got Mati to pose for this picture. That kid will do ANYTHING for a milk bone (kind of scary how eaasy it is to bribe her). She didn't like sitting on the throne .... she said it was a little too narrow and if the lid wasn't down the seat would be too slick, but I think there is potential. Anyone want to design a whippet appropriate toilet?

My Blog

It's me. Gabi, the Girl Goober. I got that name back when I was a little whipper snapper of a pup. Both my servant (I sometimes call her mom) and my brother's servant nick-named us Goobers, so it stuck.
I live with the servant and my brothers and sisters. Most of them aren't actually blood relations: we live together. Darby, my oldest brother, used to be the leader of the pack, but he got sick. I was the obvious (and may I say, ONLY) choice for a new leader, even though I was 8 months old when it happened. The servant thought that Darby was going to die. He didn't. Sometimes, I let him think he is still top dog, but lets face it -- It's all about me.
Here is a picture that our servant took of us at Christmas time this past year. For some reason, the servant thought that it would be cute to put us in the antlers....can you believe? From left to right: Reilly, Darby, Mati, Charlie, ME, and Hudi.

A brief run down on the cast of characters.
1. Reilly -- an odd nut. Mom calls him beanhead. He lives in his own world. Quite an odd duck, really.
2. Darby -- the oldest whippet (he's 8 right now). He used to be the leader of the pack, and is a nice enough kind of guy; however, he got sick and so spends most of his time sleeping. I let him be alpha....if I feel like it.
3. Charlie -- he's almost as old as Darby. He's kind of a nerd, but mom loves him because she is a nerd, too. He's also a klutz. Last week, he ran into my open mouth (honest, I wasn't biting him) and mom had to sew him up on the kitchen counter.
4. Mati -- She's the youngest. She sometimes thinks she should be Queen Bee, but I think she understands how things are these days. She's actually kind of a smart whippet...Her mother is my half sister Betty. Betty told Mati to suck up to Mom so that she could come live here. It worked. Mom is such a softy. The right look or whine and she does exactly what I want.
5. ME. No explanation required (more details later).
6. Hudi. She's my real life half sister (we have the same father). She's squirt but pulls her own weight. She's a party girl at heart (we call her Hooday Patootay), so is not all appropriate for any position that requires responsibility or follow through.

Those are the introductions.

More later.
